Quietly Goodbye

Reading Time: < 1 minute

here are the birds flying past
in a purple sky
oh how they go, they go
and here are the fish gathering
upon the shore silently
shore after shore
and the smaller flying things
whose names we never know
bright glints in hot breeze
all gone now

do I lament these too soon?
is there a turn in the road
up ahead that I can’t yet see?
along the verge you accompany me
you furred and clawed
all of us going together
into time
